The Regenerative Vet

Healthy livestock as part of healthy farm ecosystems

Founded in 2022, The Regenerative Vet is a veterinary practice offering a whole farm approach to livestock health and welfare. From landscape design to the drivers of disease pressure on your farm – Claire offers a different way of thinking and understanding your farm as an ecosystem and the huge benefits that diversity and nature can provide for livestock health. As a practising clinical farm vet for the past 11 years, Claire has a deep understanding and knowledge of different livestock systems. Working as far as possible with the most up-to-date research alongside your own observations and understanding of your own business, she will endeavour to find the most suitable options to suit your individual farm context.

Proactive and preventative herd / flock management

Proactive and preventative herd/flock management for long-term business resilience with a focus on health and welfare. This will include identifying  ‘Red flags’ or ‘indicators’ of disease and a root cause analysis.  To better understand the drivers and dynamics between health and disease in your farming system, we can identify bottlenecks and barriers to change.

Holistic, whole farm consultancy

Understanding that your farm is a unique business, with its own unique context, we will delve into everything from potential grazing management strategies designed to reduce inputs and maximise profit to landscape design for future resilience to both environmental and economic stressors.

Integrated parasite management

From prevention to assessment and treatment options.

Defining your context

To create clear objectives that are aligned with your business and life goals. Understanding what you are aiming to achieve will help focus your management going forward.

One-off consultancy visits

Support for a particular issue or longer-term collaboration is also offered.

A changing physical and economic climate requires resilient farms with resilient livestock and minimal interventions.

Who is the Regenerative Vet?

Claire Whittle BVSc PGCert MRCVS

Claire is a Veterinary consultant and farmer with 11 years of experience as a practising farm vet in and around the South of England, the North West, Midlands and North Wales.

After several years working as a commercial farm vet, Claire became disillusioned with her role as a clinical vet as she felt she was always putting sticking plasters over problems rather than identifying the root cause of disease on farms.

Testimonials

  • Here at Phepson Angus we are committed to resilient cows that don’t need intervention. Exposure to stressors is an important part of that. Claire helped us to map out how we can justify our non-intervention approach while still maintaining the highest welfare standards.

  • Claire Whittle is brilliant. She’s worked with us both one-on-one and with our farmer groups and every time she brings a ton of knowledge, loads of energy and a really grounded practical approach. Whether she’s talking about livestock health, trees and hedges, dung beetles (which she somehow makes fascinating!) or the bigger picture of farm ecology – she just gets it. She’s easy to work with, totally passionate about what she does and genuinely makes a difference. Farmers come away from her sessions buzzing with ideas and feeling like they’ve actually got a plan.
